Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policies

United Journal of Chemistry (UJC)

United Journal of Chemistry is committed to upholding the integrity, transparency, and accuracy of the scholarly record. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical standards, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Corrections

If errors are identified in a published article that do not compromise the overall validity of the research findings, UJC will issue a formal correction.

Corrections are intended to address inaccuracies, omissions, or clarifications while maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. Such notices will:

  • Clearly describe the nature of the error,
  • Provide the corrected information, and
  • Be linked electronically to the original article.

Corrections and addenda will be published in a subsequent issue of the journal under a designated “Corrections” section.

Retractions

A retraction is a formal public statement indicating that a previously published article is invalid or unreliable in whole or in part. Retractions are issued to correct the literature and ensure transparency for readers.

Retractions may be initiated by:

  • The Editor(s),
  • The Author(s), or
  • The Author(s)’ institution.

The editorial office may consult reviewers or subject experts before making a final decision.

Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Duplicate or multiple publication
  • Fabrication or falsification of data
  • Major errors that invalidate conclusions
  • Unethical research practices

If the issue affects only a limited portion of the article and does not alter the main conclusions, a correction may be issued instead of a retraction.

Retraction notices will:

  • Be clearly identified as a retraction,
  • State the reason for retraction,
  • Be linked to the original article, and
  • Remain permanently available to maintain the scholarly record.

The original article will remain accessible but clearly marked as retracted.

Withdrawal Policy

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript during the submission or review process by submitting a formal written request from the Corresponding Author to the editorial office.

A manuscript may be withdrawn:

  • Before acceptance, upon written request by the Corresponding Author;
  • If it is identified as a duplicate submission;
  • If it was submitted in error; or
  • If it is found to violate the journal’s ethical policies.

If concerns arise after acceptance but before publication, the editorial office will evaluate the request in accordance with ethical publishing standards.

In cases where serious ethical issues are discovered after publication, the matter will be handled through correction or retraction rather than withdrawal, in order to preserve the transparency of the academic record.

Once published, articles will not be removed from the journal website except in exceptional legal circumstances. Instead, appropriate correction or retraction notices will be issued.
