Abstract for Post: Design and Synthesis of some N-Heterocycles Derived from Furyl-2(3H)-Furanone

Furyl-2(3H)-furanone was synthesized as a mixture of E- and Z- stereoisomers via condensation of 3-benzoylpropionic acid with furan-2-carbooxaldehyde in the presence of thionyl chloride/N,N-dimethylformamide mixture as a cyclo-dehydrating agent. This furanone was subjected to react with different nitrogen nucleophiles for example phenylhydrazine and ethylenediamine under different reaction conditions in attempt to construct some valuable pyridazinone and pyrrolone derivatives.
